Knowing the Basics of Heating & Cooling

  • Types of Systems

Central Heating and Cooling Systems keep your home comfortable by dispensing warm or cool air in one central area and allowing it to circulate throughout your home. There are many types of systems that perform as central systems, from Traditional Split Systems (consisting of both indoor and outdoor components) to Packaged Product Systems (having one outdoor component that offers both heating and cooling), which include dual fuel systems and all electric packaged options. No matter what type of Bryant® system you choose, you can rest assured knowing that you’ve selected a 100% run-tested product to keep your family comfortable for life.

    Products for central systems include:

    • Heat pumps
    • Air conditioners
    • Gas and oil furnaces
    • Fan coils
    • Evaporator coils
    • Controls and thermostats

Ductless Systems consist of an outdoor unit and indoor air-handling units that are placed in different areas around your house, allowing you to heat or cool individual rooms. These systems are quiet and do not require duct work. They come in many different designs and can be installed almost anywhere, making it easy to find the perfect Bryant® Ductless system to meet your needs.

Geothermal Systems draw upon the Earth’s constant temperature to heat and cool your home. They operate quietly and their energy efficiency can help save you money. Save big on the best-in-Bryant® Evolution® system with Bryant® Bonus, tax rebates and local programs.

  • Heating

Most central heating systems operate by using a forced air system, which relies on ductwork to distribute warm air throughout your home. Radiant systems, however, transfer heat directly from an energy source, such as a boiler, to radiators throughout your home.

    Heating products include:

    • Heat pumps
    • Gas furnaces
    • Oil furnaces
    • Fan coils
    • Boilers
  • Air Conditioning

Whole-home air conditioning systems are central systems that deliver cool air throughout your house using ductwork. Air conditioning systems can be used to regulate cooling, ventilation, humidity levels, and even heating (if using a heat pump).

    Typical air conditioning products include:

    • Heat pumps
    • Air conditioners
    • Evaporator coils
    • Fan coils
  • Controls

Controls and thermostats allow you to turn your heating and cooling system on and off, along with defining your own custom settings to create ultimate comfort. Wi-Fi® remote access helps you save energy and money by allowing you to adjust your system’s settings even when you’re on the go. Home automation compatibility gives you the ability to connect to Côr™ Home Automation system, or Amazon™ Alexa™.

    Savings

Lifestyle programming lets you easily customize your system settings for times when you’re home, sleeping, or away. You can even switch to a separate vacation schedule without re-programming your everyday settings. And with Touch•N•Go® flexibility, you can quickly and easily make adjustments for greater comfort or energy savings without changing your programming settings. These smart thermostats actively monitor your home’s temperature and automatically adjusts for peak efficiency and savings while your away. It also detects outside conditions and calculates the time needed to reach ideal comfort levels by the time you return. The Evolution® Connex™ and Côr® thermostats begin saving you money immediately after installation, and can save you an average of 10%*-20%** annually on your heating and cooling costs with its built-in features like smart setback, energy-use reporting and energy-saving tips.

    Convenience

Control your system from almost anywhere with your smart device and an Internet connection. The Evolution® Connex™ and Côr® thermostats offer the ability to be connected to your dealer. This added degree of support allows dealers to remotely diagnose system interruptions, monitor equipment performance and potentially eliminate costly, inconvenient home visits. It can also send notifications when your comfort system is in need of routine maintenance, or when a system accessory needs a filter, humidifier pad, and/or UV light change.

    Installed Right

Your professional Bryant dealer will make sure your Evolution® Connex™ or Côr® thermostat is installed properly so your system can perform at maximum efficiency and you can save more money.

  • Indoor Air Quality

Pollutants like dust, pollen, pet dander, mold, viruses and bacteria can make the air inside your home 2 to 5 times dirtier than the outside air, causing asthma and allergies to act up, and spreading illness. This is why the Environment Protection Agency declared indoor air quality a top five environmental health concern. Luckily, Bryant® is here to help make your indoor air quality cleaner and healthier with one of their air quality solutions.

    •  Air Purifiers & Filters

  • Benefits of Variable-Speed Technology

Unlike traditional systems that always run at full speed, variable-speed technology allows your system to quietly ramp up and remain at the lowest speed necessary to keep your home comfortable. The slower speeds utilized by this technology means that your system doesn’t have to work as hard for as long. This energy efficient technology creates less noise, saves you money, and gives you more control over interior temperatures and humidity levels.
